Visual storytelling and designing multimodal educational materials
- Project Overview
IT for Change has launched the Social Science through Information Technology in Education (SOSITE) project. The new initiative will undertake teacher capacity building, and designing, developing and piloting of a module consisting of 30-35 sessions for class 6 and 7 students of government and government-aided higher primary schools in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The program will build and strengthen knowledge, skills and perspectives in social science for teachers and students through critical understanding and reflection on social realities. This will involve meaningfully and contextually integrating digital technologies into content and pedagogical practices through visual storytelling and design of multimodal educational materials, thus enhancing civic education in schools.

Job Type: Contractual/Temporary
Duration: 40-60 working days within a 12-month period extendable through mutual agreement
- Key Responsibilities
- Ideation, design of digital resources, including images, audio, audio-visual components in the session plans that are part of the teacher and student learning materials (module)
- Production of materials through illustration, animation, etc. as agreed with the project team.
- Ensuring outputs are licensed under creative commons (CC-BY-SA)
- Ensuring outputs are produced within the period of consultation.
- Essential Experience
- Master’s or equivalent degree in social science or related disciplines.
- Professional experience of 2 or more years in design/communications, including creation of audio-visual materials/collaterals etc.
- Proficiency in required technology tools for design and audio-visual editing (Audacity, GIMP, Kdenlive, Canva, Adobe Suite etc.)
- Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Prior professional experience in the field of education and technology
- Spoken Kannada skills are an advantage.
- Track record in previous roles, focusing on specific achievements related to the responsibilities of this position.
